Conference Theme: The Spectrum of Laser - Translating Basic Research to Clinical Outcomes
The WALT2012 Congress provides an opportunity to showcase current basic and applied research, challenge thinking about laser therapy, and to ensure that evidence underpins all that we do into the future. To be held at the QT Gold Coast Hotel (September 28-30, 2012), the congress will bring together industry professionals to discuss and share information on a range of themes such as the basic sciences, dental and oral health, clinical and novel applications in areas such as physiotherapy, pain management, tissue healing, cancer care and oncology, aesthetics, rehabilitation, veterinary practice and sports performance.
As clinicians, researchers, educators and industry leaders, it is up to each of us to create the future for laser therapy. Strong evidence with a clear vision and strategy for installing laser therapy as an essential addition to current practice is critical in a world with seemingly inexhaustible health care challenges. In order to install laser therapy at the forefront of clinical practice, it is imperative to strive for scientific rigour. In striving for rigour, there is a need to integrate the basic sciences in to programs of research that explore innovative and creative applications for laser but also contribute to understanding the mechanisms of action so that the applied research is even better informed. Applied and basic research cannot occur in isolation.
A number of streams have been included in the WALT2012 Congress, including for the first time in Australia, a dentistry stream:
