Abstract

Synthesis of yttrium incorporated TiO2 nanostructures with 3D gC3N4 (graphitic carbon nitride) hybrid nanocomposite have been accomplished by adopting facile solvothermal method. Three dimentional gC3N4 was synthesized by thermal pyrolysis of thiourea. Mixed green solvent of glycerol and ethanol have been employed for the one pot solvothermal synthesis of TiO2, Y doped TiO2 nanostructures and yttrium doped TiO2 with 3D gC3N4 hybrid nanostructures. The prepared nanomaterials have been exploited for fabricating the working electrode for supercapaitor application. Performance of the eletrode consists of Y:TiO2/3D gC3N4 hybrid composite material was compared with the electrodes made up of Y:TiO2 and pristine TiO2. The synthesized materials have been characterized by XRD and RAMAN for structural analysis. From the analysis of XRD we could observe that the presence of gC3N4 in the prepared sample does not modify the phase of TiO2. The morphology and elemental compositions of the prepared samples were carefully analyzed by FESEM and EDS studies. The Cyclic Voltammetry and Galvanostatic Charging/Discharging studies have been performed for the electrodes contain pristine TiO2, Y: TiO2, Y: TiO2/gC3N4.The specific capacitance of the electrode containing Y: TiO2/gC3N4 sample shows a sufficiently higher value compared with other two electrodes containing TiO2, Y: TiO2.
