Green Extraction of Antioxidants in Guava Fruit
Abstract
Guava fruit is a plant that is native to America and Mexico and is grown around the world. It is a mixed fruit in white, pink and red colours. It is also well-known for its high nutritional value and antioxidant activity. This research study explored different conditions to optimize green extraction of antioxidants from guava fruits and leaves, and the optimized extraction method was used to investigate the antioxidant levels in different cultivars. In addition, GC-MS characterized the identification of phytochemicals such as polyphenols, flavonoids, anthocyanins, and terpenes isolated from the extracts and the antioxidant activity was quantified using a DPPH analysis.
