Hydrothermal synthesis of α- SnWO4 with g-C3N4 nanocomposites for efficient photocatalytic activity on dye degradation

Abstract

Abstract

Wastewater management has become a most necessitate in this present industrialised era to meet the water needs over the world. To remove pollutants, photocatalysis is considered as the best way. Pure and g-C3N4- SnWO4 nanocomposites was prepared via hydrothermal route to study the electronic properties. The physio chemical properties of the photocatalysts were confirmed by standard characterisation techniques. The bandgap of SnWO4 was altered by introducing g-C3N4. The morphology was uniformly developed by adding g-C3N4 into SnWO4. Evans Blue dye was used as model pollutant. The photocatalytic activity was improved by adding g-C3N4 as it forms the heterojunction with SnWO4. The rate constant was increased for 0.2g g-C3N4- SnWO4 photocatalyst. The heterojunction was formed between g-C3N4 and SnWO4. g-C3N4 facilitated SnWO4 revealed the better separation of e-/h+ pairs and lower recombination rate that increased the photocatalytic activity of the samples. 0.2g g-C3N4- SnWO4 will be the promising candidate for futuristic wastewater remediation process.
