Caste Discrimination in the Global North vs. Global South: How geographical and temporal contexts shape it
Abstract
Abstract Recent cases of caste discrimination in universities and companies in the Global North (e.g., US and Canada) will be compared to cases of caste discrimination in ancient and modern India. Opening with the case of Aryabhatta 1, we discuss how time and geography can have a similar yet different manifestation of caste discrimination. We draw on comparisons to research of the nature and impact of racial and sexual harassment in the Global North. We hope to involve the audience in the discussion of generating a strategy that includes all stakeholders in organizations to eradicate racial, sexual, and caste-based discrimination.https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/1BoUjWwdoE9F91t5ZEHJJk6SHLEzaWRR2/edit?usp=sharing&ouid=110698163657334560063&rtpof=true&sd=true
