Yttrium infused TiO2/gC3N4 composite photoanode for Dye Sensitized Solar Cell Application

Abstract

In the present work, synthesis of Y: TiO2 /gC3N4 (graphitic carbon nitride) composite have been done by adopting facile hydrothermal method. Green solvent of glycerol has been used for the synthesis of Y: TiO2 /gC3N4 which then results the homogeneous nanostructure of the prepared sample. Composites of three different weight ratios of gC3N4 (10wt%, 30wt%, 50wt %) were utilized to prepare the samples. The prepared material has been exploited for preparing the photo anode of Dye Sensitized Solar Cells. The synthesized materials have been characterized by XRD and RAMAN for structural analysis. From the analysis of XRD we could observe that the presence of gC3N4 in the prepared sample does not modify the phase of TiO2.Optical properties of the sample have been done by using UV-Vis DRS studies. The morphological studies and compositional analysis were done by FESEM and EDS studies. The J-V characteristic study has been done for the devices with photoanode contains Y: TiO2, Y: TiO2 /gC3N4 (10wt%, 30wt%, 50wt %).
