LIFT Foundation, a US based non-profit organization, is established with the overall goal of incentivizing university-level research in Sri Lanka, that would address and find solutions for the problems faced by the local community. Our primary focus is to provide funding and intellectual support to research initiatives that will translate into meaningful social and economic outcomes. Over the last several years, we have established a strong working relationship with the academic leaders at both, the University of Jaffna and Eastern University of Sri Lanka.

To achieve our forward-looking goal, the LIFT Foundation has created an Endowment fund - the first of its kind established to support research in Sri Lanka. The LIFT is in the process of raising the capital for this endowment fund, which will be maintained and operated from the United States. Over the last two years, we have worked out the mechanisms and by-laws to ensure the long-term integrity of this endowment fund and its management. The endowment fund and the volunteer management board will be bound by strict U.S.federal laws and foundation’s by-laws.

The goals of the LIFT foundation will be achieved through supporting well-defined and focused research projects that benefit the local community, and bringing international collaborations with locals through research and academic exchange programs. This would eventually improve the economic viability, create new employment opportunities that ultimately lead to a healthier and prosperous society.
