TASME Entrepreneurship
Nades Palaniyar, Kasivisvanathan Chelva Chelvakumar
Abstract

Bringing inventors and investors together is a key necessity to translate the discoveries and ideas into products and services. However, there are several impediments for new inventors to set up start-up companies and to identify suitable investors.

The  objectives of this TASME Entrepreneurship session are to (i) show how inventors create start-up companies with their novel ideas and new inventions, (ii) experience how to be competitive and successful as new entrepreneurs and (iii) know what the investors are looking for, from the new inventors.

This session is similar to the "Dragon's Den" of Canada or "Shark Tank" of USA. Inventors and new entrepreneurs will present their idea for new start-ups. This will be a short "pitch" to secure funds form investors, who will critically examine the viability and growth potential of the start-up company ideas. The investors will ask questions from the inventors to verify the claims. The inventors will evaluate the quality of the inventors, his/her team members, their plan, existing support to the start-up and the existence of competing technologies and companies. Multiple investors in the panel may be interested in partnering with an inventor/new entrepreneur. The inventors and potential investors will be paired up for further perusal of potential partnership or funding arrangements, in private conversations. TASME Entrepreneurship program is designed to facilitate the connection between inventors and investors.

The participants and audiences will have a real-world experience of how inventions become products and services. The session Chairs and audiences may also ask questions from the inventors/new entrepreneurs.
