A Panel Discussion on the Design and Execution of TASME’s Women STEM Leadership Program
Abstract
The TASME women in STEM leadership program is designed to create an inclusive, and inspiring environment to foster the skills necessary for South-Asian women to pursue STEM leadership. The 1-year program is intended for those who identify as South-Asian women, but open to all that may be interested.
The program seeks to identify the leadership demands and challenges of current times to provide training on the skills required to inspire and lead. Upon completing the program, participants are expected to have developed more confidence with their leadership styles, find networking opportunities critical in their strategic planning and implementation, improve their verbal and written communication skills, and advance in their problem-solving skills. The objective of this panel discussion is to present the curriculum design, execution of this program, and highlight the scientific basis of teaching new leadership skills and practicing them one per month (20 min 20 days) to truly engrain at least ten leadership skills in the participants by the end of the one year program.
